When I was just 16 I visited a commando unit. I was a Junior Leader in the Royal Artillery at the time. Male rape was part of the culture as was sexual assault with broom handles and other phallic objects done as a kind of initiation ritual or under cover of horse play.
So if Commandos can be overpowered and raped why not any young man?
Drink and drugs obviously make young men vulnerable so perhaps it will turn out that they were a factor in this case.
I saw a TV programme a few years ago about American prisoners talking to young thugs to try and put them off messing up their lives like the prisoners had done.
One of the prisoners told them about getting raped in prison. One of the young kids said "Ain't no guy gonna rape me. I'd kill him". At this point another of the prisoners walked across the room, gripped the kid's wrists and lifted him into the air. Easily. After he'd put him down the first prisoner asked the kid "If he wants your ar5e, how you gonna stop him?".
You were such a hard man when you were 20 that there's no man could have raped you? I doubt it. What about if 6 guys hold you down and take it in turns on your ar5e?
Have you ever seen the film Scum? There's a scene where a group of guys gang rape a guy.
For those who might be concerned about an earlier answer to this question - I spent five years in the RAF and was never the victim of, was involved in, or indeed heard any rumours of, sexual abuse.
How do you know they were not drugged or hit over the head and were unconscious or barely conscious and not able to fight back?
Maybe they are claiming they felt pressured into it. Who knows.
