When you are called in to begin dismantling a twisted wreck of metal, made up of steel lintels that are still under tension....
You ALWAYS cut diagonally to GRADUALLY ease the spring action of the lintel.
If you cut straight, the pressure gets released too quick and those beams will WHIP-LASH, cutting you to pieces.
It is ludicrous to suggest that those towers were sabotaged before the planes hit in the way the conspiracy theorists are suggesting...
This has been addressed numerous times already by those who debunk "9/11 Truthers" who claim it was a controlled demolition.
The short answer: They got there from the fire-fighters.
After the towers collapsed, firefighters were there to deal with the situation. There was lots of debris there... a huge mess, as you can imagine. Lots of debris wrapped up in steel beams, all crumpled and hanging. It was a hazard to have large chunks of the building hanging there by damaged steel beams, so the fire-fighters cut the beams at 45-degree angles. It reduced the risk of things falling on their heads as they were walking around there.
You are probably getting sick of me but hey, here it goes anyway because surprise, surprise - I know the answer to this one.

It is indeed true that some of the columns of the World Trade Center towers were cut diagonally - but those cuts were made in the days and weeks AFTER the towers had collapsed. The cuts were made in order to aid debris removal. I repeat, these cuts were made post-collapse to aid in the cleanup and recovery operations. There is ZERO EVIDENCE they were cut diagonally before the collapse, and zero photographic or witness evidence of these cuts until days after the collapse after the debris removal process had begun.
