No there are not "always" hurricanes in America. Sometimes we go for months, even during hurricane season, without one. Mostly they hit the southern states in the east and along the states that border the Gulf of Mexico.
Hurricane Sandy is a very large storm and is converging with two other weather systems. Therefore, there is a very large area of bad weather all over the northeast.
Hurricane Sandy is a huge storm, over 900 milles wide. It is hitting 19 states in NE America. It is a bad storm b/c @ the same time there is a cold frront coming. The 2 storms will collide & create a super storm. So far close to 400000 people have evacuated. They move from low-lying areas inland to higher ground. The Red Cross has set up evacuation shelters for people. Public transport has been stopped in NY b/ of fears that subway will flood.No buses or trains. no flights.rain falling >1 inch/hour for 24 hours straight. Schools in affected states are closed. People told to be prepared for extended times without power. It is a full moon today, so tides in the Atlantic ocean will be very high tonight, causing severe flooding. winds >80mph. That is why this is not just a hurricane. It's much worse.
I don't know which States have been evacuated. They will go to the shelters. There are hurricanes in the south not the east coast of America. Ive only been in 2 hurricanes my whole life, Irene and this one. So many coasts are being evacuated because of the high probability of flooding. So far the wind and the rain have been coming down hard since yesterday and the hurricane doesn't come until 7 tonight.
Sandy is going to make Hurricane Katrina look like a weakling.
19 states & counting, are in the process of contemplating evacuation procedures.

Tailah- some Virginian citizens on the coast where it is below sea level have been asked to relocate, but what is more unruly than 330 000 000 Americans? And a state as wealthy as Virginia? Relocating them? It would be easier to get Jimmy Saville to confess to his alleged misdeeds from beyond the grave. and far less logistically daunting.

only coastal areas and islands that can be flooded are ecacuating... im in mass and its barely drizzling. they closed school for nuthin so far but ya its just that the north usually doesnt get hurricanes so people r kinda over reacting just to be safe cause no one really knows wat to do... srry g2g watch tv b4 the power goes out haha

I overheard a little bit about this hurricane in America and how 12 states have been evacuated or something. Which states have been evacuate? Where are all these people going to? And aren't there always hurricanes in america, like in hurricane season? I thought. How come this time so many states have been evacuated? My dad was talking to his friends who had been evacuated from his house in Virginia. I could just ask my dad all these details, but hes gone to work now so i'll have to wait until the end of the day.
