Season 1 is the best of all 3 series. It has the best plot and characters. Don't worry about the spoilers. It's why I try not to read anything about the shows i watch until AFTER I've watched it. Season 2 was ok but has way too much going on but still worth watching and season 3 took way too long to get to it's point but was still good and I think for the first time they may stick with a theme since people seemed to like this installment and I don't think things were resolved, I have to catch up with the rest of the season, I've only seen the first half.
Season 1 is the best of the lot so far..
You can skip to season 2 if you want though..it has nothing to do with season 1 at all..though..it's not as good.
I didn't like season 1 at all and I never finished it, so you can skip ahead if you want.

when does american horror story come on again ?
I was part way watching season one of American Horror Story (I am on episode 6ish) and I accidently read a LOT of spoilers for that season. Is it okay if I skip to the next season without finishing to watch the first one? because I heard each season has different characters and plot, and so would me not watching the first season effect me if I just skip to season two?
