Can i still shower when the power goes out?

You should have water pleasure but even if you have a gas water heater it is controlled by electronic components so I wouldn't count on it working.

If there's a lot of lightening, it's best not to shower - or even use a sink. If you have standpipes on your roof, they are liable to be hit by lightening which will travel down them and to the fixtures in the tub/shower and the sinks. I'm no expert on eastern home building but, out here in the west, this is how it works. You may have everything connected to a system which grounds it all. We usually don't so we get zapped every once and a while.

Otherwise, since your hot water heater is gas powered, there's no reason why you can't shower. Be sure that no large trees are uprooted near your tank or fall onto your tank which, besides the obvious dangers, would cut off the gas supply to the house.

If u have public water, you should be able to take a shower. The water pumping stations have back up generators for situations such as this. If your water heater runs off of gas you will have hot water as well.

Yes

Sure if it is headed by gas, and you can see in the room.

most likely it would be determined if there was power at the pump station for the water company

Yes, you can. Your hot water heater does not use electrical power.

Moron!

So im pretty sure everyone heard about Hurricane Sandy?

Well so i have a gas tank, and i was just wondering if we are suppose to get like 5-6in. of rain and the water has no where to go, if i can still take like a 3-5 min shower or something like that.
