Can you read a map or atlas?

At 68,I have used a road-map for driving all my driving career and much prefer them despite all the on line and GPS systems. I realise that's different to a world map or atlas, but I do use them and prefer them as well. I may not be an expert, but like to think I can read a map.enough to get by.

Yes but I guess I am of 'that' generation as well.

I enjoy map reading and planning journeys, it is much more fun and flexible.

But I guess GPS may have stopped many a family row about how to get somewhere.

Yes, especially when I get lost and I have an old globe the size of beach ball that I look at to feel smart...

yes, i do because i do not use gps and my orientation in environment is much better.

And if so how often do you use one?

I mean a gps unit is nice to have but you can't beat a good map. But unfortunately this seems to be a dying art. And before the under 20 coalition (who can't make change without a register) go off on a tangent here.....airline pilots and ship captains stiil use charts on a daily basis.

So back to my quesiton....can you read a map?
