Most people thought so. Most people thought that it wasn't enough of a BIG ending, it was too nice, not enough drama. I can't post what happens here, as spoilers are mean.
The last few episodes were total BS. In fact, they really painted themselves into a corner by giving Dexter a kid earlier in the series. I think the writers knew they had only a few choices when the end was near, and they didn't want to do the expected, happy ending by having Dex simply retire undefeated and live happily ever after with his new wife and kid, Deb at his side, and all ending well. They felt like they had to A) make Deb pay for killing LaGuerta, and B) free Dexter from his responsibilities, so that if and when the character is revived, they won't have to explain what he did with his family.
I was a big Dexter fan, but the finale was so bad that it almost ruined the entire series for me. (Not quite, but almost.) Just dreadful.
I'm not sure if you want spoilers here, so I won't go into detail, but suffice it to say that it was about as satisfying (to viewers) as being kicked in the groin.
The writers and the showrunner really blew it. Perhaps the worst series finale in history.
I agree, the ending was bad.
How come the Dexter Series Finale has a 4.9 rating on Imdb? Like why was it so bad of a episode?
