FINALLY, someone who agrees with me that Disney Channel started sucking around 2011. What saddens me is that the current status of Disney Channel barely contains any educational value that balances the entertainment value, and the down-to-earth quality that the older shows and movies used to have is GONE!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not saying this to be a hater, I'm saying this because it's what I've observed. And I understand that I am not in the target audience for Disney Channel anymore, but I honestly feel that when the current generation grows up and looks back on what Disney Channel is showing now, they're gonna be like, "Oh my God, this show is horrible, I can't believe I actually enjoyed this as a kid". Another reason I say that is because me when I look back at shows like Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, That's So Raven, Phil of The Future, Suite Life of Zack and Cody etc, all of these shows when I look back and re-watch the episodes, my appreciation and attachment to these shows only grows because not only were they entertaining, but they were also educational to an extent, the jokes were naturally funny, and the kids felt more human and down-to-earth. I mean Lizzie McGuire did an episode about body image when Miranda decided she was gonna go on that diet, and while the issue was condensed because it's Disney Channel, at least it was portrayed in a non-cheesy way, and it wasn't completely sugarcoated. That's so Raven had several episodes focusing on different social issues such as Peer Pressure, Smoking, Obesity, Racism, etc. Disney Channel was also not afraid to discuss religion, and the express yourself commercials? Man those were raw and down to earth and if u want a good example of that, here.
