Do you think celebrities like oprah have big egos?

Lego my ego.

Having a big ego is a good thing; ego is one thing that drives people to put in the time and effort to become great. There are plenty of people whose big ego goes overboard and becomes a problem when they get famous and riches, but there are plenty that use their ego and fame to better others and to show people that it really is possible to go from nothing to fame if you work hard to own your craft.

If you want to use Oprah as an example, you should also share the fact that she is one of the biggest philanthropists in the world as well, and has always looked to use her fame as a platform for change and opportunity. Being associated with her her has also driven the career successes of Dr. Phil, Gayle King, Rachael Ray, Lee Daniels, Mitch Albom, Suze Orman, etc.

Ego is not the problem. Apathy is a bigger problem in my opinion. There are too many people that give up too soon or don't know how to put a life plan in place and work for success, and there too many people that think fame is owed to them. Oprah was just a newswoman coming up in a time where nobody thought a black woman would become anything of relevance, but she continued to work hard every day and she created an empire. If someone puts in the effort day in and day out that she did, even if they don't come close to her success they will still have a very successful life that they can be proud of; but instead people would rather denigrate her and assault her "ego."

and I don't even like Oprah...but I damn well respect her.

Yes. How could they not?

I used to like Oprah but think that now she totally buys her own crap. She pretends to be humble and spiritual, but it's all that shallow self empowerment stuff.

She's probably not pleasant to work with, that would be the reality, I think she works hard herself but she'd be a complete control freak, probably necessary in her position but not nice to be around.

It's best not to expect too much of celebrities because most have ego, are used to being told how great they are and people saying yes to them. They hate being told anything different and can turn into complete jerks. I've been let down by a few that way.

Idc how much they say fame won't change them, I think it has to and the way you perceive yourself.

Well said Brent G! I'm not Oprah's biggest fan either but it it wasn't for her there'd be no Dr Oz show and I do like watching him. For what it's worth a friend of mine worked on the set of one her shows in Chicago and he said she was nice and didn't talk down to staff

We don't help the public feeds their egos.

Of course.

Yes I do!

Absolutely they do...

Sure they do.

I ask this because it seems to me like it would be dificult not to have big egos when you look at the fact that they put their names on others book when they have their own networks and magazines all in their name then I wonder why we continue to watch and purchase their products. They sell things with their names same as all the celebs putting their names on clothes perfume ect. A lot of us feed their egos by continuing to watch their shows and buying their products. Oprah has all these shows about people waking up to their spiritual path and I feel like she puts her name on their work. Seems like a lot of celebrities just always want more and more exposure and are ego based. I think that being a celebrity would lack socially on account of there name they are known and get to be known by whoever they wish and its mainly because of there names at times not because they them. Just wondering if others share these thoughts or if I'm on my own in my personal opinion?
