Does Heroes get bad after Season One?

I was never really a fan of heroes. But I think that the common complaint of people who did like the show was that it sort of lost focus after the first season. The first season had a relatively tightly plotted over arching plot of these characters coming together to try and stop this superhuman serial killer. Originally, the plan was apparently to have each season focus on a new group of characters and a new storyline. But the network felt it was a waste to junk all these characters that people liked and had gotten invested in, so they had them keep the same characters. But some of the plotlines became a bit more wild and byzantine as they tried to find ways to keep some of these characters in the show. For example, they relied more heavily on time travel, and depowering and repowering in later seasons. Some of the characters also underwent several sort of changes in nature. Particularly egregious in this regard was Sylar, who was the main villain of the first season. They always kind of struggled IMO to find a way to keep this character in the show without having it just being the heroes fighting against him every season. So they really seemed to seesaw about with his character on whether he was a cold blooded psychopath, whether he was a tortured soul with daddy issues, whether he was an ally, an enemy, or what.

Heroes suffered like most shows did from the 9 month writer's strike. I believe it was during season 3 so it didn't really pick back up, but they can do so much more with introducing new characters with the possibility of seeing some old ones.

There was a big letter writing and internet protest that happened when the show was cancelled. It still has a huge fan base because it continued in comics and web series. So yes a lot of people are happy with it's return but most of the cast has moved on, so it will be mainly new people and characters.

Season 1 was really good and I was really excited about the show. However, Historyguy is correct. They lost focus. Another problem, IMO, is that there seemed to be no rules at all. I understand that it was a sci-fi show and that's fine. Make up a world with super powers and time travel and whatnot.....but there still have to be rules (You can make whatever rules you want but stick to them). People got powers, lost powers, died, but came back....ect. That turned me off and the storyline just got increasingly ridiculous and there were too many characters.

I just saw that it was coming back and I'm not actually sure why. I've never noticed a large group of fans calling for it to come back, in general everyone was pretty disappointed in it at the end. I mean....for something like Firefly for example there are plenty of fans who would be rabidly excited to see it come back.....but I've never noticed that among Heroes fans. But...we'll see what happens

I dont think any of them were bad and I'm a big tv fan.

So, since Heroes is sort of coming back (?) I wanted to start it. But, I heard all the seasons after Season One are bad? Could you explain why, without spoilers, why you think it's bad/not bad? Thank youu.
