Yes start with the pilot I watched the whole series in order I think that helped me thoroughly enjoy it. Just do it and don't stop it's made me laugh and cry more than any show except King of the Hill. Futurama is a brilliant show though hip hip hooray

Emotional?? Uh.. not really. It's a good show, a funny show, an entertaining show, but the "emotions" pretty much stop at cheap laughs.
