Same thing here. Grey reflective x. Removed it and now a red reflective x! So odd.
Did you check with the police or emergency services in your area to see if they marked it to help identify it? If not, I surely would remove it, report it and be cautious. Perhaps a friend is having a bit of a prank?
Mabey a neighbor is using the reflective X to mark their driveway so they can find it easier on dark nights.
