Game of thrones?

Just keep watching.

You may want to rewatch as many of these questions are answered in those episodes.

1) The dwarf is Tyrion Lannister. He is the younger brother of the Queen.

2) The Wall protects the realm from the Wildlings, who are uncivilized people who live north of it. There are also legends of the White Walkers, mysterious magical beings who we see in the opening scene of the series. The Night's Watch are the men who protect the Wall. They are not all bastards. Much of the leadership is made up of nobles who joined it as an honorable calling while much of the rank and file is made up of criminals who joined the Watch in order to escape harsher punishment. Jon Snow joins the Watch because he feels that it will be an honorable choice for a bastard such as himself. He will never inherit any lands or titles but his father's family has deep ties to the Watch.

3) Eddard "Ned" Stark is the Sean Bean character. He is the lord of The North, the largest of the regions of the Kingdom.

4) Westeros is the land where most of the action takes place. It is a continent which is ruled by King Robert Baratheon.

5) The Targaryens used to be the royal family of Westeros, an ancestor of theirs having conquered and unified the continent a couple hundred years ago. About sixteen years ago Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark led a rebellion which toppled the Targaryen dynasty. In the course of the Rebellion, King Aerys Targaryen and most of his family were killed. The only two survivors were Aerys' young son Viserys and his infant daughter Danaerys (who was actually born after her father died). They were smuggled across the sea to the continent of Essos by a loyal follower and have lived in exile ever since

6) They are talking about Lyanna Stark. She was Ned's younger sister. Ned's father had arranged for her to be married to Robert, who was also one of the most powerful lords in the kingdom at the time. Robert was infatuated with Lyanna who was very beautiful. However, before they could get married, Lyanna was kidnapped by Rhaegar Targaryen, the son and heir of King Aerys Targaryen. Ned's older brother, Brandon, threatened to kill Rhaegar for this. So the King had Brandon and his father executed. When he demanded that Ned and Robert be turned over for execution too, they rose in rebellion. Lyanna remained captive for the duration of the rebellion and died under mysterious circumstances towards its end.

Who is the dwarf?

Tyrion Lannister. He is the youngest son of Lord Tywin Lannister. His brother is Jaime Lannister, the King's Guard, and his sister is Cersei Lannister, the Queen.

What is behind that huge wall, and why the bastards need to protect it?

The wildlings and the white walkers; they are trying to come over south of the wall.

Who is Eddark stark?

He is the head of House Stark and Lord Paramount of the North (he is in charge of the land in the north). Later on, he becomes the Hand of the King to his lifelong friend, King Robert Baratheon.

What is the land of Westeros?

It is a fictional continent. Another one is Essos (to the east of Westero).

And what happened to the Targaryens;why are there only the brother and sister; what happened to the rest?

Aerys II Targaryen (aka the Mad King), was a king. Then, Robert Baratheon (before he became a king) and his army rebelled against him and killed off his family. Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen escaped to Essos.

Who died? They keep on talking about someone dying.

Lyanna Stark. She was Eddard Stark's sister. King Robert Baratheon was in love with her.

SPOILERS ...

It would be wrong to know too much too soon. In any case, even those of us who've read every word Martin had ever published don't know everything that's beyond the Wall.

But stop watching those TV programmes and read the books. They're far superior.

Game of Thrones is a fantasy story set in a fantasy world, with NO historical basis - you should post the question in the Television or Books and Authors catergories - it has no place in the History category.

Keep watching....you will get your questions answered...

Winter is coming. That's all you need to know.

There is no point in watching the series if you want all the questions answered on the 2nd episode. If you want more details there are who wikis on the subject.
