I think the entire thing is totally ridiculous. He stated his opinion, (and he was ASKED for his opinion, by the way) and now it has been blown way out of proportion. He simply stated his beliefs according to the Bible, which should not have surprised anybody because he has made it clear since the beginning that he believes in the Bible. I agree with his opinion, and apparently there are many others who do as well. For those who don't agree, that's fine. They have got that right, they are entitled to their opinion as well. I don't think it is at all justified for them to drag him through the mud over it, though. I also find it quite ironic that people say we should have an open mind and that we should not judge or persecute, then those very same people are the first to complain when they hear an opinion that contradicts theirs. It sure is difficult to have any respect for someone when they do that. The gay rights activists claim to want equality, but what they really seem to want is to be able to voice their opinions while silencing the others. I don't know about you, but that's not how I define "equality".
I do not agree with what he said at all, and I think the network handled it in a very appropriate way!! They did not violate his freedom of speech, they fried him using what is called a "Morals Clause," basically, Phil got a little big for his britches and said some negative things that brought unwanted attention to the A&E network.
I think that people should be allowed to express their opinions and they are entitled to it but I don't agree with it. I think using religion as a way to say you are homophobic and racist is just dumb because religion to me is just a whole bunch of phooey (I'm atheist). If you're against something because "the Bible says so" then you just don't feel like thinking and saying yourself why you disagree with something. :/ I also thought the show was stupid in the first place.
I'm tired of hearing about it.
Where Phil Robertson expressed his opinion on homosexuality, and now the rest of his family is refusing to do the show. What do you think of all this? Curious to hear people's opinions.
