Sometimes actors will be offered the part. Usually this is the case if its a name actor or someone the director/producers have worked with before. For someone like Maisie Williams for the role of Arya they'd hold auditions. They probably put out a notice through casting agents and various acting channels that they were looking for a certain type of person for a role. In the case of Arya a caucasian girl between certain ages who can play tough and tomboyish. Casting notices will usually specify sex and age of the character as well as race/ethnicity (if appropriate) and will have a short description of what the character will be like in terms of personality and role (will they be the leading man hero, a femme fatale, a hot headed rebel etc)
Casting calls. Typically, actors and actresses have agents. These agents promote their clients to casting directors.
The actors Agent gets them auditions, then if they like you and your work well on screen you will probably get the part.
THat makes it sound easier than it probably is
Like for the bigger ones.. I mainly thought of asking because of Game of Thrones, like Maisie Williams she is so damn young! :p I'm sorry if this is me being naive or something too because I couldnt find anything about it on google..
Basically how do they find people for the main parts (Particularily if they aren't already successful actors like Sean Bean) and even like people to be in the background or to have small parts. Do they send talent scouts out to universities or clubs or something? Do they host auditions? Where do they advertise these auditions? Any other information on it too haha ^^
I'm not too interested in getting the job myself lmfao just really curious
Thanks c:
