Well your problem is you're right...it's not like Merlin and it's not supposed to be full of comedy.
I recommend reading the books first. The show follows the books pretty well but the books have much more detail. It's really a fascinating series and extremely well developed once you get into it.
As for the nudity and sex...it kind of goes with the times honestly. However, I feel the sex sort of dies down as the tv seasons progress and the story evolves more. That or you just get used to it....
GOT is not everyones thing, as for the incest and other sexualised content its part of the show's and book's dark and medieval theme, its enjoyable if you like dark content in media.

I don't know what my problem is-- I love the medieval era. I was an avid fan of the TV series Merlin, and ever since Merlin ended, I'm looking for something else similar. I tried Game of Thrones and it was NOTHING like Merlin. I really, really wanted to enjoy it but I just didn't. found it kinda boring, not enough humor and the unnecessary sex scenes....... like wtf
Any recommendations??
