A lot of people ask this, so I made an organizer that helps you find the anime you want to watch (NOTE: All anime below are ones that I think good). If you see any anime you already listed in your question, just ignore it.
First watch the following (I picked a standard one from every genre):
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood [fantasy, action, adventure genre] - 64 episodes {Really well-developed plot, nice action, all-rounder shonen, and one of the best. Ocassional swearing}
- Samurai Champloo [action, comedy] - 26 episodes {Really fluid action, quite funny at times. It has swearing and mention of sex}
- Steins;Gate [psychological, romance, comedy, thriller] - 26 episodes {Slow starter, but by episode 10 you will be hooked if you aren't already. The plot is brilliant, and it can be funny at time too. They make a lot of sexual jokes, but nothing explicit}
- Ouran High School Host Club [romance, comedy, school life, reverse harem] - 26 episodes {Very funny comedy. Has some sexual themes.}
- Welcome to the NHK [regular life, comedy] - 24 episodes {Extremely funny but a bit emotional. Mentions sex a lot has some nude scenes}
- Kuroko's Basketball [sports, comedy] - 51 episodes (when it ends) {Occasional humor, mainly focuses on Basketball}

~ Code Geass [futuristic, action, mecha, military] - 50 episodes {Amazing plot, deep character development, nice animation. Couple of nude scenes.}
~ Hunter X Hunter 2011 [action, adventure] - 108 episodes (ongoing) {Lot of action, kind of funny at times. Okay for kids, but interesting enough for older viewers as well. Watch at least 15 episodes before quiting.}
~ Attack on Titan [action, bloody] - 25 episodes {Intense action and a bit bloody. Nothing worse than violent scenes}
~ Madoka Magica [action, fantasy] - 12 episodes {Starts out seemingly girlish, but then takes a darker tone after episode 3}
~ Baccano! [adventure, comedy, fantasy] - 16 episodes {Known for decontructing what we know as a story. No main character, no beginning, no end. Really nice storytelling and wonderful cast of characters}
~ Berserk [action, bloody, mature, adventure, fantasy] - 25 episodes {Intense gore and action, lots of nudity and sex. Aimed at 18+ years}
~ Elfen Lied [romance, bloody, mature] - 13 episodes {Lot of gore and nudity, but nice story}
~ Jojo's Bizarre Adventure [action, adventure] - 26 episodes {Lots of action, although the characters talk a lot. The story progresses very repidly}
~ Now and Then, Here and There [action, futuristic, adventure, military] - 13 episodes {Very good plot, makes you think. Suggests rape, although never mentions the word}
~ Neon Genesis Evangelion [action, mecha, psychological]- 26 episodes {Takes a different view on mecha anime. Very psychological}
~ Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet [slice-of-life, futuristic, mecha] - 13 episodes {Makes you really appreciate living on Earth. Talks about human morals}
~ Yu Yu Hakusho [action, adventure, fantasy] - 112 episodes {After about 5 episodes, this turns into an action anime. Nice transition of arcs.}
~ Fate/Zero [fantasy, action, adventure] - 26 episodes {The visuals, especially in the fight scenes are jaw-dropping. You'll need to get past the first episode in order to experience its awesomeness.}
IF YOU LIKED SAMURAI CHAMPLOO:

~ Cowboy Bebop [action, futuristic, adventure] - 26 episodes {Made by the same creator as Samurai Champloo. Lots of action.}
~ Sword of the Stranger [action, adventure] - 1 movie {Really nice movie. Just pure action and adventure, no romance or comedy.}
~ Gintama [action, adventure, comedy, romance, futuristic]- 265 episodes {Mainly known for parodying other anime. Lots of comedy, and some action}
~ Gurren Lagann [action, adventure, comedy, mecha] - 27 episodes {Different kind of animation. Action, comedy, romance, it's got it all. Known for excessive fanservice.}
~ Detroit Metal City (OVA) [comedy, satire] - 12 episodes {Lots of funniness and satire. About a guy who is unwillingly forced to join a death metal band}
~ Black Lagoon [action, adventure]- 24 episodes {basically everyone watches it for the hot chick who smokes, drinks beer, and is an expert at handling dual pistols.}
~ Berserk [action, bloody, mature, adventure, fantasy] - 25 episodes {Really bloody, and lots of sex. You have the read the manga after finishing the series if you want to know more.}
~ FLCL [action, comedy, futuristic] - 6 episodes {Crazy anime that makes you feel like you're high. The producers basically took the budget of a 26-episode anime and squeezed it into a 6-episode masterpiece}
~ Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal [action, adventure] - {Prequel to the original Rurouni Kenshin. Much better animation, storytelling, fighting scenes, etc.}
~ Rurouni Kenshin [action, adventure, comedy] - {Standard samurai anime with lots of action and humor.}
~ When They Cry [thriller, horror, mystery] - 50 episodes {Lots of blood and mystery. You have to keep watching in order to understand what is going on}
IF YOU LIKE STEINS;GATE:
Watch:

~ Clannad AND Clannad: AfterStory [romance, slice-of-life, school life, comedy] - 47 episodes {Really good romance anime. It covers about 6-7 years over the whole 2 seasons, so you get to see real character development.}
~ The World God Only Knows [comedy, romance, school life] - 36 episodes {A very funny comedy. Most of it is just making different girls fall in love with the main character. Not recommended for people who want real romance, since it's more of a cute thing.}
~ Toradora! [romance, comedy, school life, slice-of-life] - 25 episodes {A comedy-romance type anime. Pretty general romance, nothing special, although it is good.}
~ Anohana [romance, comedy, slice-of-life] - 11 episodes {About past friendships and moving on. Very touching. Recommended for fans of Clannad}
~ Aquarion EVOL [romance, mecha, action, ecchi] - 26 episodes {It might seem like an action anime at first, but everything really revolves around the relationships between the characters}
~ Chobits [romance, comedy, college life] - 24 episodes {About the relationships between androids called persecoms and humans. Lots of comedy.}
~ My Little Monster [romance, comedy, school life, slice--of-life] - 13 episodes {I really liked the back-and-forth love confessions. It's pretty random and funny at times as well.}
~ Angel Beats! [action, romance, fantasy] - 12 episodes {Although it is a bit rushed, it has great comedy and action. The ending is also a bit sad}
~ Time of Eve [futuristic, slice-of-life] - 6 episodes/ 1 movie {In the near future, everyone has androids. In the cafe Time of Eve, there is no discriminating between androids and humans}

~ Azumanga Daioh [comedy, slice-of-life, school life] - 25 episodes {One of the funniest anime you will ever watch. Osaka is the best!}
~ Bakuman [slice-of-life, romance, school life] - 75 episodes {Have you ever wanted to make manga? If so, then this is perfect for you. Just watch it.}
~ The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya [comedy, slice-of-life, science fiction]
~ Natsume's Book of Friends [fantasy, school life, comedy]
