If you were alive during watergate what would you think?

I'm 70, resident in the UK, and remember Watergate quite well.

It was one of those 'slow burn' stories - starting off as just an apparent 'break-in' news item but then slowly but steadily building up to a major global event, with Nixon caught out lying big time (about his knowledge of the bugging). The legal processes were protracted, with White House officials desperately trying to keep Nixon's involvement hidden - but eventual release of his taped conversations (with bits adducted) inevitably led to his resignation.

The biggest impact, as I recall, was one of acute embarrassment, that Nixon protested innocence for so long. But of course, we had a re-run with a Democrat President ("I never had sex with that woman") Clinton and the biog-films on The Kennedys have done little to enhance the reputation or stature of the Presidency.

I was little back then and knew nothing about politics. I do remember the word Watergate was on everyone's lips and on all three networks--cable was a good 15 years away and internet even more!

The image that stuck with me, though, was that of President Nixon waving good-bye as he was about to go into the airplane. I personally believe that that man was devastated from that day on.

You mean, what DID you think, not what WOULD you think. Dont they teach English grammar in school?

Anyone can make a judgment by reading All the President's Men.

Which incident or event are you asking about at this time?

I was, but a very little child. I vaguely remember Nixon's resignation speech on TV.

I think the whole country was extremely disappointed.

wow bunch of crooks
