Very unlikely, it went ashore somewhere via New Jersey/NYC and then off towards Canada. It started as a hurricane but is now registered as a storm - a blazing storm by all accounts, but far less dangerous than when it hit New Jersey.
I tried to link up with the New Jersey webcams yesterday but they were all off line.
The Board Walk at Atlantic City is now so much matchwood.
One American to camera described it as being like the London Blitz. You can say that again, only it's on a much bigger scale right across a massive swathe of New Jersey, New York and into the hinterland of the USA and towards Canada.
The amount of damage is unbelievable - a stagger $20 billion by a conservative estimate.
I heard the death toll has now reached about 60 souls.
What we do not know is how many are buried - buried alive in the ruins and rubble.
I pray for everyone in the places so destroyed and damaged by this force of nature, Hurricane Sandy.
America the Beautiful - Elvis
Sandy is no longer a hurricane. To hit the UK it must either head in the opposite direction to that which it is headed, or go all the way around the Earth. The storm would dissipate before it hit the UK.
No. We might get some rain/wind from the US though but not on the level of Hurricane Sandy.
Sandy is no longer a hurricane and is not headed to the UK
In parts of Britain we have a hurricane every day
No.One sees such storms as restricted to the Americas. Of course Britain is 3,000 miles odd away.
Its reported to be moving North now.
We will undoubtedly see some disturbed weather patterns but we are really too far north for it to affect us directly
(UK is the same latitude as Hudson's Bay in Canada and New York is the same latitude as Madrid).
No, but I bet the train timetables get b*ggered up and the Energy companies increase prices due to the storm anyway
Dont worry. Ireland protects the Uk on one side and Europe the other.
On The News, I See That Hurricane Sandy Has Already Caused $10 Billion - $20 Billion Dollars Worth Of Damage. The Conditions In The United States Are Dreadful. But I Am A Little Bit Scared Of Hurricanes, And I Live In The United Kingdom, So I Want To Know, Is Hurricane Sandy Going To Hit Any Part Of The United Kingdom?
yes
