Is The Walking Dead worth all the gore?

Is it scary? Not really. Throughout the series, there's been a few creepy moments, but most of the time it's more just suspenseful. The Walking Dead isn't afraid to kill off the cast members, and the fans know that, so once you develop a favorite, it's intense to see a bunch of walkers going after them, hoping they don't get bitten.

I don't like scary shows either. However, The Walking Dead is different for me. I think you'll like it. The acting's great, the characters are great, and, yes, it's gory, but it's brilliant. It's not just zombies roaming around killing everything. The show really gets into the minds of the characters. Week after week, they bring a show that's entertaining, dark, and overall fantastic.

Give it a shot. Just do it.

It's not really scary or that gory. I like it because it has a great story line and actually shows how it actually can happen. For the idiot above/ below. If you don't like it Don't Watch It. I'd have yo say you might want to try watch from season 1 in order to follow. It's very popular around my area. Restaurant/bar has a Night for it n there's even a Zombie walk coming up this month. Just watch first few episodes see if u like or not.

I don't think it's remotely scary, but then again I don't find any movie/TV show/book scary so I'm not one to talk. I'd say Zombieland is slightly scarier than The Walking Dead, and you definitely get used to the gore after a few episodes of it. However, I personally don't see what all the fuss with The Walking Dead is, compared to other TV shows such as American Horror Story, Orange Is The New Black and Supernatural, I thought The Walking Dead was quite boring actually and gave up after Season 2.

I wouldn't call it scary, but it is definitely gory and at times even stressful (but in a good way). It's definitely worth watching. It isn't a perfect show, but I love watching every week. Make sure you start at the beginning!

The zombies are no longer a draw in this series. It's the characters, the writing, the acting. Zombies are just an inconvenience at this point. They make those of us who are real fans, LAUGH. Watch it. You won't know what's going on (5th season, you know), but maybe you'll like it.

Despite the violence, there is a story that you would get hooked to: there are various likeable characters, relationships, villains, and the main theme focuses on survival. It is actually not scary, but the atmosphere created from the zombies and post apocalyptic setting makes it a great watch for this month since Halloween is coming up.

Novack is dead on. The show has become more about surviving after the apocalypse and not from the zombies, but the danger of other people/groups. The Season 5 opener was bloody, but it was from human/human turmoil, not zombies.

I will be downright honest with you. After watching at least the first 2 seasons of the show, it started giving me nightmares which could conclude for being kind of frightening. But it eventually stopped. I am still an avid lover of the show.

Its so worth watching. You will definitely fall in love!

It's not that scary just don't watch it late at night.

I watched the first season or so.

It was no different than watching five or six zombie movies. Nothing special at all.

Right, so every one I know has this dedicated obsession with the walking dead and I was wondering if I should give it a try. Is it actually scary? I'm the type of person who needs to sleep with the light on after watching Zombie Land haha. I don't want to start it if it's too gory for a light heart like me you know? Unless of course all the nasty stuff is totally worth it...

There is a lot of blood but the show is really good and worth watching.

Well yeah.
