It depends on how well you take scary movies. Season 1 isn't scary but it involves some adultery and blood/gore, but has a really good plot and acting. Season 2 is scarier. I haven't watched season 2 but by the title sequence it involves a mental institution for the criminally insane. I've just started Season 3, but not too scary, it involves witches and powers and somewhat like Hogwarts. Not sure about Season 4, though.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "scary," but it's definitely a little bit weird. Some of the things they did and said on the show I wasn't expecting. They did push the shock factor a little bit, especially when it came to the Tate character in Season One, but overall I think it's a good show. It can be creepy at times, yes. But scary? No. You don't need to watch the previous seasons, either. AHS: Freakshow premieres in just a few days, so if you want to jump on the bandwagon now, now would be the perfect time to do it!
For a while I never watched AHS because I thought it was scary and I hate scary movies/shows. I eventually gave in and watched. Personally, I didn't find it scary. There are some creepy/disturbing moments but it's not really scary.
It's a big mashup of all the classic horror tropes. So if you don't like scary movies, you probably won't like the series. But if you want to try it anyway, start with season three (Coven). It has some creepy moments, but it's more of a dark comedy than the other two seasons.
yes its really scary... I like a good scary movie now and then but i watched season 1 in the day time and started on season two but then i was like ahhhhh :O
just watch season 3, it's less scary then the other two. if you handle that, you can try season 1... but i do not recommend season 2 for someone who dislikes scary movies.
