Is nuclear war inevitable?

Dear friend, you talk as if you are an innocent bystander. Did it ever occur to you that it is very much up to you, up to all of us whether a nuclear war will happen or not! We can choose to continue promoting the idea of individual survival and egotistical competition as our highest value on this planet and yes, everything will go downhill, OR we can choose to change it! It is up to you, to me, to us! Look inside your self and you will find both goodness and badness in you, both selfishness and compassion. Which one do you choose to feed? It is as simple as that.

We humans form and create this world. I know that you were born into it and feel that it is not your creation. But if you decide to grow, and I don't mean physically, you will find that you are an integral part of this world and everything you think and do has wide effects on your surrounding. So, what you can do is just decide that no nuclear war will happen and at the same time start to act accordingly. The world is in your hand!

I choose to believe it will NOT be inevitable.

I don't think so, it's about being able to control bad situations in the world, no matter how bad. I think those weapons are there to protect the world, more than to fire them all off and wipe everything out. Why would any Country want to do that, they would harm themselves in the process.

No, it's not.

The reason it's not is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

-NATO is the most powerful military alliance in the entirety of recorded human history.

NATO's the reason the Cold War didn't end in WW3:

-Both Soviet Russia and Red China preferred losing a cold war to losing a shooting war.

NATO's existence is a deterrent, and the reason why there won't be a WW3 or nuclear war:

-With 28 nations in the alliance, nobody would survive a war with NATO let alone win it.

-NATO's members include the richest, world's most technologically-advanced militaries.

-The majority of the world's nukes are owned by NATO nations.

In short: taking on NATO is suicide. And the world's governments know this.

-It'd NOT Be. -Or ALL Our days are Numbered. :o

If we keep putting up with these punks that think they can stand up against us. "Clears throat" whispers north Korea Iran. They say they are bent on destroying us and yet we just watch them pursue nuclear power. Show them what one does even if its not on humans but in there territory as to scare them if they don't listen go in

yes..inevitable..on some scale...small and in the middle east.100%

I think it is inevitable too...

You have answered your own question with a logical and thoughtful thread.

However, lets not rule out chemical and biological weapons. Not as messy as blast and heat waves from a nuclear exchange. Also the structures remain standing unlike nukes that flatten everything and have a half life for a inhabitable 23000 years.

Even the politicians can't come out of their underground bunkers if this was the case.

The way things are going in this world, i'd probably say it'll happen within the next 5 years. Everything seems to be going downhill and it may be best to be completely wiped out.. But anyway, what do you think the chances are that a nuclear war will happen?
