Naw dude, deathnote was one of the greatest hits anime has had in the past... no matter how old it is, people will still appreciate a great Ryuk, Light, Rem, Amane, Near, or whatever cosplay... It's like asking if the DBZ fandom is over, except deathnote wasn't quite as famous but in the anime world it will NEVER die ;)
