I dont think anything so James Bondish ever happened. The latest theory is that it was hijacked. My own theory is that possibly the passengers fought back and the plane was damaged and crashed into the sea ?

An EMP as powerful as you describe would require a very large, very powerful nuclear bomb. One that would be far too heavy to be carried by even a commercial jetliner.
Besides, a bomb that powerful would be far more effective as a bomb, and not a an EMP.
Finally, have you forgotten that 100s of nuclear weapons were detonated all over the American SW during the 1950s and 60s, yet we didn't damage our electrical system despite it not being shielded like it is today.
Any group that powerful didn't need that plane if they could build that bomb; and they sure wouldn't advertise their presence in that manner.
