The same guy who produced Parenthood and About A Boy produced Friday Night Lights as well. Even if you aren't into football, I am still sure that you will love Friday Night Lights. I got one of my friends to watch it and she was skeptical because she hates football, but she ended up loving the show. I actually started watching Parenthood because I saw that it was produce by the same guy who produced FNL.
Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Wire, and American Horror Stories all have a large fan base. I don't watch them personally, but I have heard good things about them.
I absolutely love Modern Family. I think it is one of the funniest shows on television. The Big Bang Theory is a popular comedy.
I would say you should check out American Horror Story because it has that slightly scary/creepy factor you get from Bates Motel and Supernatural. If you want just a really good TV Show that actually is already finished try DollHouse and Firefly both are very good. Heroes is also a good show but i admit it wasn't as good after the second season but it picked back up. Heroes has that mysterious/puzzle factor lost has. Thats all i could think of off the top of my head! Good Luck! Finding a new show is always exciting.

I think pretty little liars is a good show, as long as you are a girl, but guys might like it too.(BTW I love lost sfm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
