Obama's 'act of terror' statement - in the Rose Garden - was simply confirming the blatantly OBVIOUS.
Romney's POINT was that it took Obama and his aides, 2 weeks to formally confirm it was a 'terrorist act'
There's a subtle but huge difference in meanings.
Romney got his terminology out of synch - as happens, live, with millions watching.
After all the US support for the over-throw of Gadaffi and liberation of Libyans - it was a ghastly out-rage that the US Benghazi embassy was stormed and the ambassador brutally murdered.
It raised IMMEDIATE questions as to a) why in such a volatile situation Obama hadn't ensured better security at the embassy and b) whether the provisional Libyan authorities had actually 'sanctioned' such an act - or had incompetently allowed some splinter-group of terrorists to undermine their position ?
These are still open questions - which Obama's slippery lawyer's defensive semantics didn't answer satisfactorily - in the view of many observers.
When the moderator corrected Romney's facts on what Obama said during the Rose Garden. Romney was incoherent after that.
When Romney made it very clear that Obama stated he had called Benghazi a terrorist attack on 9/12 in the Rose Garden. Romney knew he had him in a lie.
Sorry, Obama did not win, although it was close. He failed to address the attacks by Romney of his failed policies. Yet, he did much better than last time. He was present, forceful. I would have to say ir was a draw.
