I think my parents, now deceased, could have been much better parents than they were. They NEVER encouraged us to participate in activities or have friends over. The never took us to shows, concerts, or anything but family gatherings. They never encouraged us to travel and move for GOOD careers, so we have mostly been stuck in deadend jobs for years on end. Frankly, I think they only had kids to have someone to look after them when they got old, which is a dreadful reason to have kids.

My mothers ideas on parenting are dubious. My dad never had parents and came from a home for boys. He never knew love so is emotionally closed.

My mom has passed. Dad well he is alright I guess. There are no classes to be a parent. There are lots of bad parents. All you can do is grow and learn from their mistakes. God bless.
