season 9 is horrible...... they should have stopped at 7 or took a break until they could have kept the standard

Well, I've been on a X-Files binge the past few weeks and just finished Season 7. I wasn't aware the series was intended to stop there for various reasons. I'm on the fence as to if I should watch Season 8 and 9. I mean writing and themes of the show aside part of the appeal for me is the chemistry between Mulder and Scully. Season 7 ended so wonderfully that I don't really want to ruin the experience with 2 'forced' seasons.
I did watch them all when it originally aired, but I don't really recall an episode until I start watching and due to age, time and various other things I don't remember everything.
So should I watch Season 8 and 9 of the X-Files or just stop at Season 7 where Chris Carter, the creator of the show, intended it to stop?
