He's been moved about, had opportunities many young men WOULD appreciate & be grateful for but still he reoffends.
If he was going to be be put out of his obvious misery it should have been done years ago.
There is still a gag in place that prevents Ralph Bulger from revealing the exact details surrounding the horrific injuries James suffered before his death.
The pitiful 8 years they served is a travesty against James' memory & justice.
Killing Venables now?
Better late than never!
I always had the view that what they did was very wrong but when they did it, they were both only 10 years old. At that age, you know what is right and wrong and although they clearly knew what they were doing, I don't think that they understood the seriousness of what they had committed and how many lives, including their own that they would be affecting.
When they were released from prison, I don't think anyone really knew what to think. Yes there was outrage because they were placed under the criminal protection act and given new identities but if that hadn't been the case, those two men would have been killed in the street within minutes for something they did when they were children. I believe that Robert Thompson feels genuine remorse, guilt and regret for what he has done and has kept a low profile and stayed out of trouble.
Jon Venables is clearly not a good man. He has been given a second at a a normal life and he has thrown it all away for various crimes, the most disgusting being the child pornography that he has been involved in.
Asking whether he should be killed is a bit of a difficult question to answer. Do you mean just be killed by anyone or like a death sentence? Clearly in the UK the death sentence isn't implemented so that wouldn't be an option and I also don't see why he should be killed. Yes what he has done is very wrong, on a lot of levels but do you not think that he should suffer for the crimes he has committed? Dying would be an easy way out and in my personal opinion, he should now be locked up for the rest of his life because he clearly feels no remorse for what he did to James Bulger and has no desire to make a new life for himself. He was given a chance and he shouldn't be offered a second one but death would be too easy.
No, an eye for an eye solves nothing. He was a child himself when he committed his horrendous crime, so the death penalty wouldn't have been applicable anyway. Irregardless of the fact Britain doesn't have a death penalty. I'm not saying he wasn't culpable for the act he did, as a child of 10 is capable of knowing right from wrong, but clearly this man isn't well, and is a bigger danger to himself than anyone else at this point. He clearly needs to be in a secure unit for his own protection.. Possessing child pornography is a sick act, and clearly the actions of a disturbed mind, but it's not a lifetime in prison sentence. He'd have to be let out eventually. Robert Thompson has seemingly been rehabiliated, is in stable relationship, and holding down a job. I hope Jon Venables gets the help he needs too - For his own sake, and the sake of others.
An eye for an eye.....
No, i don't think he should be killed - Firstly, why should he be freed from the years of guilt he should feel for the whole of his life and torturing himself with the memories? Ok he was only 10 yo at the time but it was a terrible thing to have done (it wasn't 1999 btw it was before that) - but what of his own upbringing? - should not his parents then, also be killed for the lacking of decent parenting, allowing him the mentality of thinking it was acceptable to torture and kill a toddler (or anyone for that matter)? Should all parents of 'disturbed' children be executed? A whole new can of worms i think
No, he was only a child when he killed James Bulger. If what you say is true he is clearly badly messed up and should be in a secure psychiatric unit. He is probably only a danger to himself.
My belief is that capital punishment is wrong. Yes, he is clearly a troubled and very ill man, but two wrongs don't make a right. People like him probably need to stay in prison, or go to a secure hospital, as he is a danger to the general public.
He shouldn't have his freedom, that's for sure, but I would never advocate the killing of another human being. He should have to live with what he has done, just like anyone who has committed such horrendous crimes.
And the person who answered saying that he was just a little boy himself when it happened, that "little boy" tortured and murdered a 2 year old! Regardless of his age, that shows there is something fundamentally wrong with him, how many 10 year olds have you heard of that do that!?! and, as the person who put the question up said, he has been prosecuted recently for indecent images of children. So please don't justify his sick actions by stating his age, that is ridiculous.
English law is never retrospective, you cannot impose a heavier penalty than the one applicable at the time of the offence; therefore you cannot execute a person if capital punishment was not available then. So what you are suggesting is execution for the lesser offence of possession of pornography. Thank God you are not a judge.
NO. Thats inciting violence. I have no more liking for the man than anyone else but you are putting yourself on his level.
As they were only children themselves they they would not have been executed at the time.even in the days of the dealth penalty.
He should be carefully supervised as he could do something similar again ?
The other one is in a stable gay relationship.
I don't see why the taxpayer should waste any more money on Venables. He may have been 10 years old at the time of the killing but he certainly isn't now nor has been for a long while. He is clearly an ongoing danger especially to children and has no remorse for any of his viciousness. He is of no use to society.
I am all for saving the saveable but Venables is a clear no-hoper. He's a good reason for the restoration of the death penalty.
if you read the wikipedia entry on the murder case, if you actually read what those two bastards did to that poor little kid there can be no doubt that they cant ever be trusted ever again and yes if it was up to me theyd both get a lethal injection.
In case you don't know, when Jon Venables was 10 he and his friend, Robert Thompson mutilated, tortured and killed two year old James bulger in 1999. They were only put in jail for 8 years! Robert Thompson has seemed to stay out of trouble but Jon Venables (who was given benifits and a free house to live in) in a drunken rant bragged about how he had killed James Bulger and, in 2010 was arrested on creating, owning and distributing child pornography. Now he is on his way out of prison.
Should this man be killed before he could do any more harm?
Yes. Make the world a better place without that piece of sht
You should never put an apostrophe after the word and.You should be shot for that. :)
Are you advocating murdering him? Wouldn't that make you just as bad as him?The justice system is not perfect but if you start shifting goal posts for individual cases then it ceases to be just.
No, but the concept of "lock him up and throw away the key" seems to not be understood by some people. Clearly he can never be rehabilitated.
No. We don't have capital punishment in this country.
Neither of them should have been let out in the first place.
He should have the exact same thing done to him as what he did to that child!
should never have been let out
No - He should be chemically castrated and made to suffer for the rest of his life in solitary confinement. He has seriously broken his release terms and licence. Killing him or Capital punishment is far to good for him - Make him suffer.
Yes I agree, but that does sound a bit lenient. Isn't there anything worse that can be done to him
He was exactly that a 10 year old.
No.
Just because people saw it on CCTV they seem to put some special accent on it.
They were both just children, leave them alone.
They should have been executed, when they turned 18.
That way,no parent would have to worry about them again.
