Should all civil servants receive an 11% salary increase?

I don't know how things are in other countries but here in the USA our "civil servants" are often paid close to Union Wages, even if they are not part of an actual Union. And if they are part of a Union they are already over paid. No union? Then they are still getting paid very nicely when you consider insurance, 401K and pension.

Not an 11% raise.

That sounds very nice thank you, my partner is a long serving Civil Servant, earning under £25k pa in central London. This idea that Civil Servants are paid more then anyone else is nonsense. He has had to put up with a 3 year pay freeze and is looing at a 1% pay increase, despite the fact that his department, which he has helped manage at times, has been singled out for excellent performance by the government. No chance of him getting 11% pay increase I bet.

Do not be misled by MPs calling themselves Civil Servants. They are not and they pay is not comaparable to any other employment. They should be paid a generous rate for the hours they put in attending the Commons and meeting constituents..If they can fit in another job too, fine.

No. Most of them are overpaid anyway. They should get the same average pay raise of th average citizen. Why should they get more? Trust me, the average citizen doesn't get an 11% pay raise -- more like pay cuts this past half decade. - civil servants should too.

GOOD GOD NO! Most of them are incompetent boobs who couldn't survive in the real world. Isn't it enough that they have the most secure jobs on Earth?
