Should kids still be able to deliver newspapers?

Now a days, kids are getting laid off from delivering newspapers. Do you think kids should still be able to be newspaper carriers?

Yes they should

in the area i live many deliver papers its a good first job to learn responsibility

Without knowing what age you define "kids" we cant really answer properly. You mean England where they chuck the paper in the garden instead of putting it through the letter box.

I am in America of course. Here 13 year olds still deliver newspapers. They dont collect money now .

I was a paper boy at 13 in the 1950s. England is a much more violent country with soccer riots and things.

Even so I dont see why from 13 14 they should not do it as ever.

I suspect if they are being laid off its nothing to do with age,its another reason.

The days of the kid pedaling down the street tossing papers onto people's porches have been long gone. Long, long gone.

In my area, "the paper boy" was replaced by a couple of guys driving a late model Cadillac over 30 years ago (yes, during the 1980s) so this is hardly a new development.

It made sense if you think about it. The news paper no longer had to drive around dropping stacks of papers for the kids to roll & deliver, and you needed fewer cars as compared to kids on bikes to deliver the paper.

Nowadays, when you've got what, 2 or 3 subscribers per block? There's no way a kid on a bike could make enough deliveries to make it worth his while unless he was spending 6-8 hours a day peddling all over the place.

Its not safe for kids to deliver newspapers anymore.

Of Course! Not only because of the money but it makes the kids more responsible, you know? They're in charge of handling something, and responsible for getting it there...

-Sure ! But WHAT Kid wants to get up at the Crack of Dawn to DO that- Anymore ?! You're lucky if You can get them out of Bed & off to School- by 8 o'Clock !! :o

Well, yes and no. Its unsafe but can earn them money. It depends on the matrurity levels, will they use the money wisely or buy sweets?

Hell no
