These theories seem to be only in America. We dont have any in the UK.
Well, Mark has some good points.
Conspiracy theorists also have an innate distrust of government or any form of authority. So when the official reports about 9/11 blamed Al Qaeda terrorists, the conspiracy theorists assumed that that explanation MUST be a lie, and therefore there MUST be some other explanation.
Of course, some are just suffering from delusions of paranoia.
At any rate, you have to be careful.
For instance, no one ever said that the fires from the jet fuel melted the steel in the towers. However, the fire was enough to SOFTEN the steel, which would cause it to deform and lose its structural integrity. It turns out the bolts that were holding the floors up were the first thing to go. The enormous weight of the floors plus the slightly softened, deformed bolts was too much and the bolts snapped causing the floor to fall onto the floor below, which caused its bolts to fail and snap, causing a chain reaction that brought the towers down floor by floor.
Incidentally, the snapping of the bolts would sound like gunshots or short explosions, that many thought were demolition charges. This is just another example of why conspiracy theories are bunk because they're based on nothing but assumptions. In this case, people heard something that sounded like an explosion, and so they immediately conclude that's what it must be.
There is just too much evidence now that suggests an inside job: the fact that ALL THE WRECKAGE WAS SHIPPED ABROAD as soon as possible, the fact that even ROLLS ROYCE themselves have said that the engine recovered at the Pentagon WAS NOT the type of engine used on the type of plane (b757) that was said to be responsible. The fact that some of the 'hijackers' are still alive: http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLE... the fact that no jets were scrambled in time; that no significant plane debris was found at the pentagon site (planes do not vaporize!); that the buildings seem to be demolished, especially building 7; that jet fuel cannot melt steel, even though molten steel was seen "flowing like lava"; that the first responders heard explosions in the basement and within the buildings before they collapsed etc...
-WTC leaseholder Larry Silverstein admitted that building 7 was pulled down by a controlled demolition:
They originate almost entirely from people who;
A. Hated then-President of the USA George W.Bush and/or VP Dick Cheney
B. Were against the wars (Iraq in particular but A-stan as well)
C. Hate Jews
D. Some combination of the above
They create conspiracy theories as a means of justifying one of the above beliefs and which of the above they adhere to becomes obvious quite quickly when you look at the conspiracy nonsense they spew. But it goes deeper than that.
A real investigator first gathers all the evidence, then determines what is relevant and what is not and fits all the relevant pieces together to form a narrative that explains what happened based on what is actually known and provable with as few un-proven assumptions as possible. That is called forming a hypothesis and is the process known as reasoning.
Conspiracy theorists are incapable of reasoning through the complexities of an event like 9/11 and it is because they can not reason that they become conspiracy theorists. It is much easier to form an opinion of what happened based on political bias and ideology, then cherry-pick the evidence they like that fits, ignoring anything that doesn't and just making up the stuff they need to fill in the blanks. CT's can not form a reasoned, evidence-based hypothesis nor can they understand a well-reasoned hypothesis that is presented to them. Rarely can they handle more than one or two facets of evidence at a time which is why you always see them picking out individual anomalies they don't understand (hte WTC towers fell straight down) and ignoring the larger picture. Then because they can't think they reverse the burden of proof and challenge others who can think to prove them wrong rather than trying to prove their own case (the towers fell straight down so I say that means controlled demolition with pre-planted explosives - you prove me wrong).
They are not crazy (mostly) and are not stupid (mostly) - they just lack that important skill of being able to reason their way through complex problems to reach a solution,... and they sense it rather than know it - thus the frequent retort to reversed burden -of-proof.
I'm an engineering student, and most of my profs think 911 was an inside job. If you can watch building 7 collapse, and still not have nay questions, then i seriously question your ability to make judgements
All airplanes must have rudders in order to fly. Now look at what hit the Pentagon and tell me if you see a rudder, which is the rear upright fin. Some may not like this answer, but tell me if you see a rudder.
None of the theories have any basis in truth.
I may be in over my head but I'm so curious as to why so many conspiracy theories have arisen from the 9/11 attacks. I was only in 3rd grade at the time and not living in new york, I saw it all on television and obviously have never had a reason to doubt it was a terrorist attack and nothing more. I was just watching youtube videos of it all and pretty much all of the videos are about people trying to prove that it was our own government that actually demolished the buildings. Some of the proof is quite believable actually but I just find it hard to believe because what real reason would the gov. have had to do that...? I mean are these people just a bunch of crazies who hate the government or is there more apparent truth to these theories? The stuff about the jet fuel not being able to melt the steel beams of the towers was confirmed by a physicist. WHat do yall think, just extremely curious after coming across this.
Thanks
