Yes, the past is the past and we need to think about the future. Yes - what is the future? If this event is not remembered then it is possible to happen again. The world is unstable - there are civil wars and many other events which are killing innocent people. We must not forgot what happened and there are many people (think 11 years and under) that still have no idea what happened and need to be educated - the videos being shown are a great teaching tool. We are also, on this day, holding tributes to the thousands that were affected. Should we not do that? The further out in history we get the milder the memory. This is still new and current in the long history of this country.
I do feel bad for the people who have this date as their birthday but remember that every tragedy that occurs in this country has a lot of people that share the same date.
Those who do not remember their history, and you seem to want to forget it already, are condemned to make the same mistakes over and over again. Thinking about the future, what if your grandchildren end up one day in another tower that is brought down by terrorists?
You've not so long ago had July 4th, and like only yesterday it was Labor Day, soon it will be Thanksgiving, then the Winter Holidays. Don't ever forget 9-11.
In the UK we have a bonfire night on the 5th of November every year with bonfire party's burning of an effigy and letting off fireworks. This is to mark the execution of a Roman Catholic terrorist 'Guy Fawkes', who was captured attempting to blow up the parliament with a cellar full of gunpowder under Westminster palace 1605.
There is even a rhyme;
Please to remember the 5th of November gunpowder treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder season should ever be forgot.
So perhaps 9/11 will last just as long in US national life.I think it deserves to if only as a reminder of the horrors that religious nut cases are capable of.
I get your point. But because lots of people died, they have to atleast make an attempt to respect the fallen lives. But yeah, it was horrible, and it was years ago. It's not as big of a deal now though as before, as all we have to do is pledge allegiance longer. In my school anyway.
- Hope I helped

Okay so I understand that it sucks that so many people died in the 9/11, but I think we should stop obsessing over it. There have been so many disasters worse than this one and you've probably never even heard of them. People always think I'm a horrible person because I don't like the same things thrown in my face over and over again. Like that thing that happened in Haiti, that was on the news for a VERY long time and I just got sick of it. And 9/11... I mean think of the people whose BIRTHDAY is 9/11! How pathetic is it that we have days of SADNESS? I'm sorry but we should never ever EVER have a day of sadness...... And again with the birthday thing, "Happy birthday to me, everybody's crying".... I mean I think we should just stop it. What about the people that lost somebody in the 9/11 attack? You seriously have to bring it up EVERY SINGLE YEAR? They're trying to get over the death for god sakes! I think we're all just upsetting people. go ahead, hate on me for this opinion but I think we should just move on. The past is the past, think about the future.
