"Why wasn't George Zimmerman Arrested?"
That's the million dollar question.
Even in a clear case of self defense, the person is taken into custody for questioning.
Zimmerman's claim of self defense doesn't even make any sense. Martin wasn't on Zimmerman's property, and wasn't armed. And we've yet to hear any sort of explanation of how Zimmerman went from trailing Martin, to wrestling with him on a neighbor's lawn, to Zimmerman actually shooting him.
A city official now claims that state law prohibited the cops couldn't arrest Zimmerman because he claimed he was innocent. I really don't understand how that works either, but it sounds as though if you want to commit a crime, Sanford FL if the place! Simply claim you're innocent, and walk free!
Anyhoo, now you understand why so many folks are upset about this case and why FBI has gotten involved.
George Zimmerman didnt get arrested not because of the Stand your ground law, that was how he justified the murder along with Sanford Police.Zimmerman cannot use this law as a defense. He didnt get arrested or even taken into custody to get an official tape recorded/video statement. Its because his Father who is a retired JUDGE and a former military man, his dad have clout with wickedness in high places!. The Sanford Police knew that George Zimmerman was supposed to go to jail! In fact, Trayvon had the Stand Your Ground law on his side because in the 911 tapes, Zimmerman was safe inside of his vehicle with a 9 mil gun when he made a call to the police. The dispatcher asked him if he was following Trayvon he replied: "Yeah" the dispatcher said" You shouldnt do that". He jumped out of his truck, chased Trayvon down and killed him. What is even worse, when one of the witnesses Ms. Cutcher went outside she noticed Zim sitting on top of Trayvon straddling his back acting like a lunatic. When the witnesses attempted to give the police the details of what they witnessed, Sanford police ignored them. He is 100% guilty!
@Dylan, you are making up your own version of what happened because you are just another Zimmerman. The 911 calls gives us a good idea of what Zimmerman was doing. secondly, The crime watch program doesnt have him as a neighborhood watch captain in their program and if he was he had no doggone business stopping someone in the street questioning him, trayvon didnt have to tell him anything. I hope they get him!
The best part of all of this is that Dylan is starting to look like he's right. As it's coming out, it appears the Sanford Police did everything correctly. Yes, thy didn't take Zimmerman into custody, but if it as determined and verified by eye witness accounts that it self defense, there is no need to bring someone in.
This is very much a case of social media engaging in slacktivism before all the facts are known. Give the process time to work out. And realize that when all the facts are out, you may not like the outcome. But also remember you live in the USA where it is your given rights to be innocent until proven guilty.
The policies in most places are innocent until proved guilty. Why would he be put in jail (holding cell) for 48 hours while they investigate? The 911 calls on the surface don't show anything. Zimmerman called in a suspicious person and followed him against the direction of the dispatcher. There were cries for help but it is hard to determine who it is and there was a shot fired. Zimmerman claimed self-defense. That is where the investigation began.
Later evidence suggests he should be brought before a grand jury on charges but not initially.
I find it very suspicious that Zimmerman once attacked a police officer yet had it expunged from his record.
Seems to me that only happens when the perp has done a "shady favor" for the police department; it is indeed, quite rare to expunge something against a police officer.
I think there's a lot more behind this than we know as yet.
My heart goes out to Trayvon's family and friends.
I'm glad the grand jury has been assigned to this case.
Zimmerman should NOT be charged based on the current evidence and eye/ear witness testimony. Anyone who takes the time to look past the media spin on this will see that…it is exactly why he has not been arrested.
The Martin parents don’t wan’t justice, they just want Zimmerman and they will take any piss poor reason to get at him.
Thankfully we don’t live in a country where enough signatures at ‘change.org’ overturns “innocent until proven guilty”.

One of two things happened after Zimmerman’s call to 911 reporting Martin. The call records Martin walking toward Zimmerman then Martin running to the other entrance of the complex.
Either Zimmerman followed him against dispatch instruction (not a crime) and asked him why he was there (a fair question) or Martin attacked him after flanking him by coming around the complex. Martin was fast enough to do that given he is 6’3 and 140 football player. Zimmerman is slow as hell at 5’2 and 250lb.
Funny how the media only mentions wieght and not height? Just more spin/deception and most people just mindlessly swallow it whole. Martin literally towered over Zimmerman
However, Lets assume the recording by the Martin girfriend is not fake (who records cell phone calls per-emptivley, Really?)
Anyway, assuming the call is legit. Then Zimmerman merely approached the suspicious Martin and Martin first asks Zimmerman, “why are you following me?” Zimmerman responds with another and very fair and reasonable question “What are you doing here?” Then there is a scuffle
Neighbors reported two guys wrestling/struggling/scuffling.
It is most probable that when Zimmerman asked Martin what he was doing there, Martin’s fight/flight kicked in and he chose to fight…cutting off the call
Eventually, Martin the 6’3 140lb football player (tall, fast, and lean) got the upperhand on the 5’2 250lb (short, slow, and overweight) Zimmerman. So much so that he is actually on top of Zimmerman on the ground beating the crap out of his face (he broke his nose) and slammed Zimmerman’s head into the concrete causing it to bleed.
Zimmerman cries for help, as a result of this fight domination by Martin, went unanswered and as a last resort he shot Martin to save his own life. If you have never had someone on top of you beating your face and banging your head into concrete then you don’t know how deadly that can be.
The fact is someone can ask you “What are you doing here” and you DO NOT have the right to assault them. If you do, and they have a gun, and they have no other choice but to shoot you to stop the assault, they will.
Its self defense. Walking up to someone and asking someone what they are doing is not provocation. Think people!
More food for thought. Why is the Martin family surreptitiously releasing no recent photos of Martin?
If Martin has really merely gone to the store to get candy and tea and had walked straight back to his Father’s girlfriends apartment, none of this would have happened. No, we was wandering around the complex looking at houses, probably using an earpiece on the cell phone under the hoodie so noone can see he is on the phone. Yeah that’s suspicious in a neighborhood where there has been recent burglaries.
If Martin had not responded to a fair and reasonable question with illegal assault and battery, then he would not be dead today.
This can actually spark a real race riot. And Mr. George Zimmerman looks like a Puerto Rican to me....and his ex judge father probably had his people do him some favors.
They're investigating. It just happened. Give the police some time.
Race. Period. If the shooter had been black and the child white, he would have been arrested right then and there, Black men are constantly harassed and followed. This was no different.
Why wasn't George Zimmerman Arrested? I get Florida law but doesn't every states self-defense law state you have to prove that it was self defense. I live south too that what our law states even if someone breaks in your house an investigation is done and you have to go into holding for a little while nothing more than 48 hours if your innocent. and your also tested for drugs and alcohol also the murder weapon is taken as evidence. How come non of these precautions were taken. I guess came off as bias when i first posted this question because i don't know what happened i'm just saying from the evidence the police department did have including the 911 calls which were just public ally released he should have went in custody for the night at least and an investigation should have been done why was Trayvon phone found the day after i'm not saying George is guilty but the police department really needs to be investigated and Zimmerman need to be mentally evaluated he was a self appointed unregistered captain of the neighborhood watch who call the police 46 times in a year. Am i seriously the only one who finds this story fishy and sees something just is not right.
