What is Mississippi like to you?

I lived in Mississippi for about eight months. That was about 15 years ago. It is not urban from what I remember. Many houses were out in the country, that's where I lived.Things might have changed since I was there. I know a few people who live there. They had traveled all their lives to states all over the US. I used to travel with them at least once a year. I miss that, I miss those long road trips. Anyway, they finally settled in Mississippi for good. There were some very sweet people there. Not all, but there were definitely more good than bad... like many Southern states (I love Southern states lol), but I don't live in the South.

Actually I think this category is fine for this question.

The only "urban" part of Mississippi is the capital city of Jackson. But it's nothing compared to a really urban place like Atlanta or Manhattan!

All other places are suburban or rural. I think it's pretty evenly split... 50% sub-urban and 50% rural.

In general, the cities/towns surrounding Jackson are sub-urban, and those farther out are very spacious and rural. Though some cities that are on the coastline can feel sub-urban.. like Pass Christian and Biloxi.

I grew up in Mississippi. Lived there from the time I was ~2 to the time I was 18.5.

I lived in Mississippi for 6 months and could not wait to move out-of-state. Very backward in the majority of the State, but the people were friendly. Rural.

It depends on witch part of Mississippi I have lived here for 16 years and the part that I live in is DeSoto county in Olive branch MS just south of Memphis TN and I must say that it is very modern you also have city's like Southaven , Hernando, Horn lake all very modern as well the people here are very nice this is one of the fastest growing county's in America it has many good top notch schools and collages I love the part where I live I think that when you go more south it does become more rural but like I said it depends on what part of Mississippi I hope it helps.

I live in south Mississippi, and honestly "south" Ms, is the more "urban" area of the state. Places like the coast are vastly different than the delta in the northern part of the state.

I was there on a vacation and it isn't really urban. I liked it there because of friendlly neighborhood. If you are looking for a nice spot I suggest you go somewhere else.

I kinda want answers from people that live in/have lived in Mississippi. Would you describe Mississippi as urban, suburban, or rural? Opinions about Mississippi are welcome. Oh, and I don't even know what category I should put this in, so I just picked one.
