What is wrong with TV series these days?

I love the Rifleman and Bonanza..also Little House on the Prairie, Touched by an Angel, Murder She Wrote, etc etc..

You're right, tv has changed..for the worse. It's because morals have lapsed and people have this "whatever goes" attitude which media imitates and sometimes pushes..

Good sit-com/soap is Gilmore Girls. Funny to all. I'm also a male but I've seen this show many times. Always laugh. If you want good shows check out HBO. Game of Thrones, The Sopranos. Also check out Showtime

I've ran out of entertainment!

not sure if you mean all tv dramas or just American ones. 'cause it seems like every country's becoming like that!

i'm asian, so i didn't use to watch many dramas. only the ones that got Dubbed for our own tv channels (we don't have foreign channels on tv here). shows like "emily in new moon", "Sara Stanley" or "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman". i liked them. "All Saints" was pretty popular here, but just got stopped airing last year, because of low viewership. people were getting bored i guess.

some years back i was done with my country's (Persian) tv dramas. there are no nudity and sex in them, but they're just NOTHING compared to old ones (watch "Forbiden Fruit" if you could find it, and you'll know what i mean).

i started watching Korean Dramas. the first and second were interesting, then it turned out to be all the same! same love triangles, you won't believe it, same plot for EVERY single series! the exact same plot! and everything's about boyfriends and girlfriends. so far, there's only 3 of them i don't regret watching.

then Turkish dramas, full of betraying. i mean, seriously?!!

even Indian movies! i was addicted to them and now they just find a SEXY girl (acting skills doesn't matter) capable of getting as nude as possible, therefore pleasing male leads' eyes or probably appealing some male viewers to go rape girls in public buses!

finally i got into American dramas. like "Vampire Diaries" (Love triangles, switching their girlfriends like their mobile phones!) left it at season 4. and "True Blood" (couldn't even bear the first episode!).it was literally porn, i felt guilt for days!. in some of them, it's just obvious that they're putting nudity and stuff 'cause they're out of plot! a friend gave me suggestion of "Game of thrones". i couldn't see the point of it being popular. plus too much nudity and sex. left it at 3rd episode.

"Witches of east end": total waste of time, it's the same as TVD.

and someone please tell me: with a simple (and mostly cliche) plot, why do they have to drag a show to it's 7th season and more?! if something's getting attention, just tell the story and finish it magnificently. what's the point of season 5 of TVD! so many characters and a bunch of different creatures, yet all we get is...

currently watching Revenge. so many betrayals and stuff, but at least it's got some twists: i skipped about a whole season though, 'cause it was getting boring. i hope it doesn't get ruined for a 5th season! can they please, just put an end to it, this season or next?!

i watched first episode of Glee, looked promising, maybe i go for it someday.

found Sherlock a week ago (don't laugh, but i didn't know it's not American!). i think i'm saved. better stick to it. after years, i'm actually enjoying something.i hope it doesn't get ruined because of critics or high rating.

TV sucks most of the time because the networks think that sex, swearing, and other bad stuff is what people want to see, and they don't realize that not everyone wants to see that stuff.

For example: just seeing promos for Mad Men looks like shows are now just about sex, drinking, and people scheming against each other. What happened to the good old series with good messages in them? What happened to awesome westerns like The Rifleman and Bonanza? And no, Hell on Wheels doesn't count. Old westerns were positive and had good messages to them such as Chuck Connors being a good father. Now tv series are just about people being mean to each other.

What happened to the good comedies like I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show and Leave It To Beaver. What happened to feel good comedies like The Golden Girls? Why is everything now about sex and scandals? Why is this generation of TV watchers full of shallow minded people?

Tv used to be entertaining. Now I just want to throw up. The best thing I've seen recently is Blue Bloods which has morals to it.

What has happened to television? Is there anyone out there like me who likes the way things used to be.

BTW, I'm a 21 year old male so I'm not some old timer just complaining about things. And in regards to the Golden Girls question, I am not gay. My grandmother used to watch the show and that got me into enjoying it.
