The whole idea is to stand under something with STRONG beams, a strong arch that won't break easily.
A 3.3 is TOTALLY safe by the way. Nothing to worry about at all!
I live in California, I know, it's not that bad.
For when it happens again, and probably not for a while, just have a "emergency pack" maybe waiting under a bed or something, and also research different places to hide or take cover.
run out side - the building you are in will collapse and/or gas lines will break catch fire and asplode killing all inside.
The USGS has information on what to do (see link). There's also Kid's Pages at USGS so they (and you) can better understand what is happening when the ground moves.
depends on where you live and how much faith you have in the construction standards and specifically your building
if I lived in Turkey, Id be heading outside
if in the United States, Id follow recommendations
as I understand, a doorway is generally considered the strongest part of the structure
going outside is the best option, coz u r lining on the second floor, always go to the ground level. But if you cant take your 3 kids out then take a shelter under bed or table.
Stay indoor of course, you will cause harm to your self and your kids if They and You are outside. Your neighbors are running cause they are panicking or they want to see what's going on.
I live on the second floor of an apartment building. We had an earthquake here about 10 minutes ago (3.3) . I get really nervous (like I am now) and don't know what to do. My neighbors all run outside, when the news anchor say to stay in. What am I really supposed to do?!. I have three small children. Do I take them outside? Do I stay in and get us under a table?
