Like so many other "celebrities" King seems to be under the impression his political views matter to anyone but himself. I enjoy most of his work, but taking his advice concerning anything else is like asking a plumber about an electrical problem.
King has a weird sense of humor, although his personal in joke about Maine joining Canada was nearly the only thing in 11/22/63 I enjoyed. His fiction is not at all to my taste, but I've seen nothing that sounds anti-American.
