When does Classic Dr. Who get good?

Well, even the most ardent of Doctor Who fans will admit that some stories are absolutely awful! If you're watching from the beginning of The First Doctor, it will be a huge culture shock if you're only familiar with the post-2005 version and also some First and Second Doctor episodes are missing from the BBC archives so if you were hoping to watch them all in order, forget it!

My advice is to 'cherry-pick' from the classic series, perhaps watch one story for each Doctor. Here is my favourite story for each classic Doctor:

First Doctor (The Daleks)

Second Doctor (The Tomb Of The Cybermen)

Third Doctor (Spearhead From Space)

Fourth Doctor (Genesis of The Daleks)

Fifth Doctor (Earthshock)

Sixth Doctor (Vengeance On Varos)

Seventh Doctor (Remembrance of the Daleks)

Dr. Who is undeniably cheesy. Clichéd and predictable plot, sub-par acting and terrible props, but for those who love the (classic) show, these are all endearing qualities that add to the fun of it all.

I always liked Jon Pertwee. Several of his episodes are concerned with UNIT.

the classic show is better than the new series, but instead of watching in order just watch at random

while not every episode is goo it is good from the beginning

I'm already a fan of the 9th-plus Doctor, so I've been going into the classic episodes and naturally started with the 1st Doctor and the pilot...

Not just from a story standpoint, but visually and in terms of character, it's painfully boring. Does it improve prior to Tom Baker taking over the role, or should I just skip ahead?
