Where does the star trek tv series begin?

OK, this is a difficult question. I will omit the two recent films as it's difficult enough without.

Trek on TV was made in this order:

1. Star Trek (Orignal Series) (I would omit the pilot the Cage as it was included in the series as the Menagerie)

2. Star Trek: The Next Generation.

3. Deep Space 9

4. Voyager.

5. Enterprise

And there are the films:

a. The Motion Picture (1979)

b. The Wrath of Khan (1982)

c. The Search for Spock (1984)

d. The Voyage Home (1986)

e. The Final Frontier (1989)

f. The Undiscovered Country (1991)

g. Generations (1994)

h. First Contact (1996)

i. Insurrection (1998)

j. Nemesis (2002)

Now, strictly speaking this is the (very rough but already confusing as hell) Chronological order:

h. First Contact (1996) [part thereof]

5. Enterprise [all but the last episode]

1. Star Trek (Orignal Series)

a. The Motion Picture (1979)

b. The Wrath of Khan (1982)

c. The Search for Spock (1984)

d. The Voyage Home (1986)

e. The Final Frontier (1989)

f. The Undiscovered Country (1991)

g. Generations (1994) [part thereof]

2. Star Trek: The Next Generation.

3. Deep Space 9

g. Generations (1994) [part thereof]

4. Voyager.

h. First Contact (1996) [part thereof]

i. Insurrection (1998)

j. Nemesis (2002)

5. Enterprise [last episode]

Now, this is the (rough) chronological order although if you watch it in this order, everything is spoiled and it doesn't work. You weren't intended to read it like this. So I'd advise this order:

1. Star Trek (Orignal Series)

a. The Motion Picture (1979)

b. The Wrath of Khan (1982)

c. The Search for Spock (1984)

d. The Voyage Home (1986)

e. The Final Frontier (1989)

f. The Undiscovered Country (1991)

2. Star Trek: The Next Generation.

g. Generations (1994)

3. Deep Space 9

4. Voyager.

h. First Contact (1996)

i. Insurrection (1998)

j. Nemesis (2002)

5. Enterprise

Basically, there it Time Travel involved occasionally and it just wouldn't be good to do what you're intending.

Here is a list of the various TV series and a list of the movies with the years they were broadcast or theatrically released. Note that from 1989 onwards, there were some years where two TV series were on the air, or a movie was released in theatres while a TV series was also on the air. Also, the narrative sequence of the various series and movies weren't always released in chronological order. (For example: Star Trek Enterprise is a prequel series set about a century prior to Star Trek the original series. The movies V and VI were about the original series crew, but released in theatres while The Next Generation Series was on TV.) The Star Trek movies of 2009 & 2013 represent a divergent timeline set in the original series era.

Star Trek the original series (1966-1969)

Star Trek the animated series (1973-1974)

Star Trek The Next Generation (1987-1994)

Star Trek Deep Space Nine (1993-1999)

Star Trek Voyager (1995-2001)

Star Trek Enterprise (2001-2005)

Star Trek The Motion Picture (1979)

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984)

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989)

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)

Star Trek: Generations (1994)

Star Trek: First Contact (1996)

Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)

Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)

Star Trek (2009)

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

It depends on if you want a list of when everything was released or a list of in chronological order of the series timeline... looks like everyone else did their list by release date.. So I'll follow the series timeline

1. Star Trek Enterprise

2. Star Trek (2009 movie)

3. Star Trek The Original Series

3.5. Star Trek Into Darkness (timewise TOS and into darkness would be happening at the same time.. you'll understand after you watch everying)

4. Star Trek The Motion Picture

5. Star Trek The Wrath of Kahn

6. Star Trek The Search for Spock

7. Star Trek The Voyage Home

8. Star Trek The Final Frontier

9. Star Trek Undiscovered Country

10. Star Trek The Next Generation

10.1 Star Trek Deep Space Nine

10.2 Star Trek Generations

10.3 Star Trek Voyager

10.4 Star Trek First Contact

10.5 Star Trek Insurrection

10.6 Star Trek Nemises

Everything after The Next Generation is all happening at the same time so thats why I counted them all as 10... Theres also the animated series that I didn't include.

LOL I never really thought about how many Star Trek movies, and TV show there are... There is a butt ton of star trek.. Doesn't seem like that much when you think back on watching it all!!!!

Watch in this order:

1. Star Trek (orignal series) You might want to skip season 3, they are not very good

2. Even numbered Star Trek movies (II, IV, VI)

3. Star Trek the Next Generation. Skip season 1, it is not very good

4. If you really must, watch Deep Space 9

5. Skip Voyager. It is not very good

6. Skip Enterprise. It is not very good

Start with the original series from the 60s, then the movies, the Next Generation, and go from there.

I want to watch the star trek tv series from the beginning in chronological order, i just dont know where to start since star trek is so massive. After the tv series i want to watch the classic movies also.
