The Vampire Diaries
Supernatural is a great show and it has a huge story arc that plays out throughout the seasons. It is my favorite show and has it all: action, drama and some comedy thrown it.
Lost and Vampire Diaries are also good. Heroes was great season 1 and then went downhill. I never really got into 24 but many people did like it. Try watching Supernatural first. You will get hooked.
Those are all good choices. I'd say watch them in this order:
1. Heroes - it's ended and is only 4 seasons, so you'll finish it quickly and be able to move on.
2. Lost - Only 6 seasons and done, so you can finish it in a long marathon
3. 24 - It's over, but lasted longest of the three canceled shows. Also, each season is somewhat self-contained. You can take a break and watch something else between seasons without losing momentum
4. Supernatural/TVD - Both are still airing, so as long as you get caught up by fall you'll be good to pick up new episodes. O personally prefer Supernatural and would watch it first.
I only Watched LOST and Heroes and The Vampire Diaries.

Those are all long-running shows that do get really repetitive, especially 24 and Supernatural.
I say check out Freaks and Geeks, it's also only 2 seasons but is REALLY good, funny, and has a great cast.
There are so many choices at Netflix that it is tough to make a decision. Personally, I watch the first episode of a series. I can then usually tell whether I'm going to like the whole series or not. You could watch the pilots of all five series in an afternoon and then make your decision.
We loved Supernatural! Every season was great except season six.
We have also enjoyed Vampire Diaries.
Definitely House of Cards.
I'm deciding between Lost, Heroes, 24, Supernatural, and The Vampire Diaries. I would prefer a show that's not repetitive like Bones or Dexter
