I wouldn't be horribly surprised if John did end up being king, yes I've read the last book. It could be Dany, but I think everyone expects that. Some people even think the two might end up getting together.
I honestly think stannis would be best. I know he's not so popular, but I really like him.
I would say that House Stark will win. Despite their fall earlier in the series Jon Snow will probably rise as king due to the fact he is a main character. And all the chances lead towards him. If not him then I would have to say no one.
At the moment, I'm leaning on the White Walkers. If they really are as dangerous as they are supposed to be, they might already have won.
I wouldn't read too deep into the "Prince that Was Promised" prophecy. There are several religions around and they all have different ideas as to what is going to happen.
And however main a character Jon Snow is, main characters do not necessarily last long in this series...
I hope the White Walkers take it all; may be the last of Craster's baby will become king.
Also, didn't Jon Snow swear to protect the wall for life?
Arya is the only character who has at least one POV chapter in every single book (and if you read the books, you see that she's becoming increasingly skilled and educated). So, my money's on her. I don't think she'll sit on the throne or anything (I honestly have no clue as to who will "win" that, if you can even call becoming king/queen "winning"), but I do think that if any character is going to survive, it's going to be Arya Stark.
My money is on the walkers.
Everyone else is too busy f**king around (both literally and figuratively).
*Spoilers for both the books and the show below*
Hi, who do you think will win overall in Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire? This has been on my mind for a while, given that the final books haven't been released yet.
I personally think Jon Snow will take the Iron Throne, this is based on the theory of his parents being Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. It makes a lot of sense as I believe Eddard never actually refer to Jon as 'my son' he refers to him as 'my blood'.
Also, the prophecy of 'the price that was promised' reinforces this idea. The prince is said to have 'a song of ice and fire'; ice possibly representing the Starks, and fire possibly representing the Targaryens. Jon is both Stark and Targaryen, both ice and fire.
Rhaegar crowned Lyanna the queen of love and beauty rather than his own wife during the year of the false spring. It was also known that Lyanna didn't really love Robert. Therefore, it's quite plausible that they could have had a child.
Many people seem to think that Littlefinger will become king, it seems plausible due to his manipulation behind the scenes, but he doesn't necessarily fit the prophecy of the prince that was promised.
Maybe no-one will win in the end, the 'others'/white walkers could simply eradicate everyone; I wouldn't be surprised given George RR Martin's track record. Let me know what you think.
