It doesn't really matter what any one person's opinion of a TV show is because the networks are profit-seeking organization and they will produce whatever they feel earns them the biggest profit. Apparently, stupid comedies do quite well for them. Do you really imagine that they should produce something that won't earn as well for them or do you think that all of the networks are wrong?

Are you really trying to find smart shows though? Because the shows you mention are shows that are created to help people relax, decompress, which isnt so much stupid, as it is necessary for people to be ready to go, tomorrow.

You could simply look around and find Science-Shows, Philosophical-Drama, or other heavy-hitting issues.

family guy is not meant for children that is why it on at night it's got adult humor in it. it is was then there would be no swearing it in and it would be shown in the daytime

All kids shows today are. even I hate to admit it but some of my favorites like Family Guy are too. Degrassi is the only one I know of that actually seems to try to do a service to real life by taking real serious matters of today's world kind of like South Park..
