their wings are a lot smaller than their body. So they have to try and lift the body with their small wings making it quite impossible. all they can really do is jump for a bit in the air.
i think its because of selective breeding. like if i was going to make only the fattest chickens breed, after generations they would be so fat they couldn't fly. try watching chicken run again too, that might answer your question
They HAVE wings, but their bones are too dense to allow flight farther than up to the roost, but they're STILL not as dense as a cow's, so don't give them to dogs.
they can fly , but if their wings have been clipped ( and that's a good idea if you want to keep them in your yard ) they won't --- good luck , chooks are are a lot of fun and a good source of cheap food ---
