It could be Americans themselves, to have a reason for war, it would'nt be for the first time in history...
But thats not that likely. In that case, it would be because of religions differences. Some radical groups seam to think, that this is their life purpose. And that anyone, who doesn't believe in their religion, should be killed. The Earth should be "cleaned" from them...
So, this is what I know about it. :)
I am not trying to justify what happened. But it's called "blowback", meaning they are counter-attacks for our own interference in other nations' business. That is not to say we "deserved" it. But if you try and tell other people how to live, they tend to push back, is all I'm saying. We did the same in the revolutionary war. Terrorism is just a way that a weak force pushes back against a strong force that is "bullying" it, be real or just perceived as bullying. Religion and all that other stuff is all a smokescreen. 9-11 was a political act. Think about it, they didn't hit Disneyland or the Statue of Liberty. They hit the Twin Towers, a symbol of our financial strength. The Pentagon a symbol of our military power. And the White House, a symbol of our government This is not the scenario created by wild crazy religious fanatics. This was meant to make a point. Which we obviously missed.
The Bush administration wanted everyone to believe it was because they "hated our freedom" but this is not reason given by the terrorists themselves.

Just to be clear, I do not agree at all with his reasons for committing such a heinous act. This is posted simply to show the reasoning given by the attackers themselves. Basically, they hoped that American's would convert to Islam and renounce the goverments military involvement in the middle east. We can see just how well that worked...
Dear Jan & Asker: I am muslim, Islam never teaches that, Islam forbids the entrance to Eden to whoever harms a peaceful person or even a prisoner of war who poses no threat after his capture. I Assure you this was all a political game from both sides to bring misery into the world. My tributes to all who died, the 2,976 American people, the 48,644 Afghan and 1,690,903 Iraqi's. This act we as citizens of both worlds paid it's price dearly, instead of the true criminals Our Arab leaders so was bush at his era. Those were the ones to be held responsible for this and not the peaceful families who lost their children whether by a plane crash or a bullet straight to the head by a Us marine.
