Why do old people need television so bad?

It really depends upon your viewing habits. For many of us, cable and satellite are still the best way to go. My husband and I watch lots of programs on SyFy, BBC America, FX, AMC and the History Channel, and they don't make their programming available online for free and we don't want to have to pay per episode or wait 9 months to watch shows. We've done the math and cable is cheaper than buying episodes through Amazon and iTunes. Plus, Hulu and many other online services limit what devices you can use. If I use my PS3, Hulu and some others don't let me watch on my TV. Given that I have a 65" HDTV, I see no reason to use anything else, or anything that won't give me a decent image quality.

cable and satellite cost Money- if one is living off Social Security or Disability there is little money for those type of things

Well..depending on your age..what do you consider old? 30? 40?..80?

Cable is expensive..but you know it's there once you turn the tv on...no having to search the web..chance of viruses etc..

It's just whatever suits a person..everyone is different..and if people are willing to pay..that's their choice..

They don't really need it, they just really enjoy watching television. Television is what they grew up with.

Well. They are old and have nothing better to do, old people retire and become lazy.

1) they are used to the way they know

2) they want to see the same shows their friends see

3) no one has shown them how to get the other things.

and there is no one around them daily who has heard of the other things.

they tired and lazy and dont go out much

what else you want tthem to do at home if theres no tv

They think the only way to get decent programming is to have a cable or satellite company provide them with overpriced programming. They don't know how to switch input channels to use their peripherals, etc.
