Why do you think Sherlock (BBC) is so popular?

Because its Sherlock Holmes and its on a British channel. That and because they don't like to admit Elementary is a better series.

- Sherlock Holmes books/film/tv are always popular (hence the ridiculous amount of versions of it), but this particular series has modernised it. Most versions keep it in the Victorian era, so its interesting to see how the character would work in our modern, technology filled world

- Great acting & chemistry between the actors. People love a 'bromance' (hating that I just said/typed that word)

- Addition of humour & generally good, clever writing.

- Good locations & editing - makes it visually entertaining

- Some people just like to look at Benedict Cumberbatch.

Not usually my cuppa tea (hold no interest in Sherlock Holmes fiction or detective stories in general) but got into this somehow & I really enjoy it. So it's succeeded in converting me, which no other version has managed (not even the Downey Jr. films)

Because the way they portray the character is very appealing , as a super intelligent guy ,with a rude character, a big show off, irritating, unpredictable ,,but who also shows his caring and protective side to his friend (Watson),,,the way he solves the cases are also amazing ,,in a more fun way but at the same time maintains the typical Sherlock standard ..

Because it is good solid drama with fab storylines, great characters, drama and comedy and brilliant actors. Just about the best British drama there is.

Brilliant writing, brilliant acting, awesome locations, brilliant music.

Because I am brilliant. Just ask John, he's vocalized it in every way conceivable.

SH

good writing/ good actors that have work well with each other/Good production values
