Why does 4+4*4+4=24?

Because of PEMDAS/Order of Operations. It's a system that organizes how one solves math problems efficiently and in a standardized way. P.E.M.D.A.S. is an acronym for Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

Which ever one of these are apparent in a math problem you do in the order of which they come in in P.E.M.D.A.S.

4+4*4+4 becomes 4+(4*4)+4 or (4*4)+8 or (4^2)*8: this is simplification, i didn't solve for anything yet. simplification just means that you're juggling the numbers and symbols around but it's equal to what it was when you started in the first place. i'll use the 3rd one since it's the easiest/most common way you see something.

4+4*4+4 can be simplified to (4*4)+8

(4*4)+8 can be simplified to (16)+8 or 16+8

16+8 = 24

Order of operations!! You must multiply 4*4 then add the other 2 4's 16+8=24

You have to use the order of operations.

1.P (parentheses)

2.E (exponents)

3.M(multiplication)

4.A(Addition)

5.S(subtraction)

There are no Parentheses or exponents in your problem

but......

Since you have multiplication in your math problem you do that first (4*4=16)

Then you do the problem from left to right. substituting the multiplication's answer( which is 16) 4+16+4=24

You can remember P.E.M.D.A.S or the order of operations by using the phrase "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally"

Bedmas is your order of operations: brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction.

That means multiplication is first, so 4x4=16. Now you have 4+16+4 which equals 24

You multiply 4x4 first then add all together

4+(4x4)+4=24

Because someone, somewhere, made this all up for some reason,I do not even know where all these numbers came from or who created them,or who was the fist person to say a number or count to 10 ! Go figure ~~~~*
