I love Breaking Bad, I think it was one of the best written and acted shows in along time. It isn't perfect but it does a good job at trying. As far as Hank not knowing, he thought he knew Walt and the Walt he knew would not do that. Hey it isn't for everyone, but I have watched the whole show 3 times now
Walter White wasn't perfect. In fact, he was a bumbling idiot who thought he could use his education and logic to operate an empire. A lot of the time, he skated by on pure luck. But that was the joy of the show, at least to me. His imperfections were why most viewers felt they could relate to him. And no matter how much power and money he had, it was the little nuances like Walter being so anal retentive at the car wash when discussing air fresheners, etc...What kind of drug lord obsesses over air freshener? It was so laughable, but yet Brian's acting chops had you believe it was plausible. That and just the premise of the show as a whole. The kingpin's brother-in-law is the head of the DEA...what more could you ask for?
I was a big BB fan, but I knew its limitations. Too many coincidences, too much obvious stuff that any decent narcotics officer should have seen going on under his own nose. But, my god, that show, almost every episode, had me going WTF at the end and wanting to see what happened next. That's the definition of a good program, it makes you want to know what's GONNA HAPPEN NEXT? There are plenty of blogs on the internet about the show and they freely discuss and even revel in the sloppiness of some of the stories. To me, it wasn't nearly as good as The Wire or Deadwood, but that's just me. I still enjoyed it tremendously.
I know what you mean. I watched up to the third series and then just got soooo board of it. It`s not the best show and its not perfect. It`s far from it. 24 Will always be my favourite show. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I think it's secretly because we all think of our own science teachers in school doing this! and not everyday do you see teachers in a tv show being drug dealers! not in this society anyway!lol
I'll admit, it is one of the better shows i've seen but it's certainly not as great as everyone says it is imo. Most people on the internet talk about it as if it's perfect and it has no flaws, yet they just completely ignore anyone that does mention it's shortcomings. If I even bring up the fact that it's filed with flashforwards that often lead nowhere, or that it's plotlines are quite repetitive. (Walt to Jesse: Oh no jesse you imbecile you f**ked up, never mind i'll use science to get us out of this mess. *Skip to next episode* Oh no jesse, me getting us out of that mess last time led to something much worse), and the fact that walt as a character really isn't that interesting, and i get bombarded with hate messages calling me a "hater", or i just get ignored completely. Walts transformation from everyday guy to murderous drug lord wasn't even that much of a transformation, he killed a guy in the first episode and showed pretty much no remorse :/. The last thing I want to mention is that "Walt turns into the biggest drug kingpin in new mexico" was a really big overstatement... in season 5, he was the dominant guy for what, 3 episodes? and even then he was still cleaning up after the mess of killing gus fring....
Its not a bad show, it just pisses me off when people ignore it's quite obvious flaws and call it perfect.
What do you think?
