Why does my mom watch Judge Judy?

It's a matter of opinion and tastes. Does she like the sames shows you like? She probably thinks the same thing about the shows you love - "how can anyone watch that crap".

I looove court shows. I'm in my mid 30s and have been watching The People's Court since I was a tween! The People's Court is by far my favorite court show. I've watched Judge Brown here and there, before he got cancelled, and I watch Judge Judy waves (some years I'm into it, some years I don't watch). But, I always watch The People's Court no matter what.

I love prying into people's lives and seeing what kind of trouble their getting into or how someone has wronged them or how they think someone has wronged them. These's aren't actors and they're real people with real legal problems and sometimes the falling out between family and friends are real that they don't talk to each other anymore. I like Judge Judy because she cuts through the BS and she calls liars out. She also doesn't want to hear all the BS that has nothing to do with the case - like how someone's boyfriend cheated on her.

My favorite cases are the car cases, where someone bought a car, possibly a lemon. My least favorite cases are dog bite cases or cases involving dogs. Some of these people who appear on these shows are very unlikeable.

Personally, I think the judge on The People's Court might be overstaying her welcome, and it might be time for a new judge to take over. Besides the original judge of the people's court from back in the 80s (can't spell his name, so won't try), I liked Judge Judy's husband when he was the judge, but he knew when to quit - before viewers got tired of him. Judge Millian, the current judge, doesn't know when to call it quits.

And, I like what @Kathy said - your mom watches it becasue she likes it.

I have asked the same question about myself. She already has her mind made up about every case when she walks out that door and sits on the bench. If you don't meet her standards as a rich, educated person, you're a moron, idiot, something wrong with you, etc. Also, anyone who would appear on her show, deserves everything they get, whether plaintiff or defendant. For justice, go to your hometown courtroom.

The base appeal of Judge Judy is her yelling at people during cases, calling them idiots, morons, stupid, and the like, and them just standing there taking it.

When she does this, she is doing something that just about everybody wishes they could do and get away with it.

It's what's known as a vicarious thrill.

A lot of the time it isnt that simple. Some of the cases are so stupid its funny. Some of the people are clearly lying and its comical. Its also interesting to see what would happen if you were in the same situation.

because judge judy is a great tv personality. 10 million people daily agree.

I wonder why, too.

I once saw her take the judgment of a legitimate court, crumple it up, a throw it on the floor, and then give the opposite judgment.

I saw her tell a plaintiff to abandon her car and let the other party take the car in settlent of her money debt. But the caimant had to obligation to take the abandoned vehicle, when the relief was wanted in terms of money.

The problem is that Judge Judy relies on PRINCKPLES OF LAW, instead of the ACTUAL law.

Judge Judy is great at what she does...working out what is fair and who's telling the truth. She is entertaining to watch. I find it interesting to learn how different people go about their lives. Judge Judy is a very strong character, she doesn't take any nonsense from anybody-it is inspirational to see a woman in that position doing so well.

If you watch Tupperware lady you'll know why.

She watches it because she likes it.

Well sometimes the cases are pretty bizarre though and funny

and maybe she likes law though

I'm 16 and I like law stuff like that I want to see how much they have to pay and why the losing party lost

I don't see the point in watching it . It's so boring like really. Who wants to watch people go to court and talk about who's suing who? Can anyone lemme know why my mom watches this ? I can't stand it
